The joint cooperation with the SSI “The Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” has started at 2008 with the team-work focused on design and testing appliance for polymer spraying at various surfaces («thermo sprayer») using method of gas-flame spraying.
The Polymer Cluster enterprises apply the designed products from 2008 for the following scientific and practical works:
- test fulfillment concerning ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) application at various surfaces using various composite mixtures. This range of work was fulfilled under terms of the agreement with the Fund for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology (Bornik Fund). Its R&D part was co-designed with the Faculty of Chemistry, SPbSU.
- work fulfillment concerning spraying of UHMWPE protecting coatings at interior walls of goods wagons for the purpose of freight freeze protection under R&D work fulfillment for the Russian Railways JSC.
- actual test performance and creation of sectors for UHMWPE freeze protection spraying under R&D work fulfillment together with the “Krylov State Research Centre” FSUE.
- actual test performance of various coverings at the objects of Business Polymer Park.
A scientific work on construction modernization was carried out in 2013. The thermo sprayer construction was simplified and at the same time the quality of sprayed coatings was improved.
Our employees keep on working at creation of new UHWMPE composite mixture to spray coatings with the set parameters, using also nanomaterials. An application range of this world class technology is very wide, that’s why it will be useful to have an automated coating process made through robotic manipulators dealing with big and complicated objects. For the implementation of this project it will be necessary to do a joint R&D program between Russian and Belorussian Academies of Sciences, with the assistance of FSUE Central Research Institute of Structural Materials “PROMETEY”, SPBSU and others.
